The work of the consultancy side of the business often brings specialised ‘jobbing’ work into the factory where the precision and skill of the engineers is all important.
Most of the jobs are unusual and require both unflinching attention to detail and great levels of expertise.
A recent heavy engineering project was to completely refurbish two 2.2 metre diameter PTFE single bearings which are to be used in an 800 Tonne turntable, which was originally fully designed and manufactured by John D. Hotchkiss in the early 1980's. (Please see top right picture).
Another recent project successfully completed by Hotchkiss Engineers was to design and manufacture an SZ machine which is used within the cable making industry - the machine weighed 10 Tonnes and had to be fully tried and tested before being shipped to Pakistan.
